Tiny Eyes

A photo of us at Anne and Jed's wedding
Sanne's vision at 24 inches away
12 inches away
6 inches away
3 inches away

Our friends, Heidi and William introduced us to a website called tinyeyes.com We were able to put in a photo and get an idea of how well Sanne can see us at different distances. It's incredible how a newborn still has so many in utero tendencies. The "shhhhing" reminds her of sounds in the womb, rocking is similar to the feelings she had while I would be walking around during the day . . . just incredible to me. Sanne's eye muscles are still not strong enough to focus together, her skull is still soft and her cord is still waiting to fall off. She's a little person . . . so fragile and so resilient at the same time.

She's beautiful and soon she will see that you are beautiful people too. It's funny, I've always seen you two as fuzzy red, orange, and yellow blobs too. I can tell already that in sharing the same vision, Sanne and i will be good buds. Amy and i think about your family often. We love you very much.

I've driven 2 hours to work in blinding snow, and missed my morning coffee stop, so I can sympathize with the 24-inch view.

Amazing that those colored blurs still get associated with people and objects, as her eyes develop. That's a fun website -- you guys should make up some image flash cards for her. :-P
