At Last

If you know me at all, you know that Etta James is definitely a favorite. I love her rich voice, her jazzy style, her engaging stage presence. I saw her perform at St. Catherine's in St. Paul shortly after I moved up there in 2001. Nathan and I sat in the balcony, not sure what the concert would be like. I was totally in love. Wanted to cry when she came in on her motorized wheelchair. . . singing her soulful songs about love and being done wrong.
This weekend our friends surprised us with tickets to see Etta in April at the House of Blues. We've both never been to the House of Blues and I never thought I'd be able to see Etta live again.
What an amazing gift. Not just because of the opportunity to go but because these friends love us so much that they want to support us by giving us a way to escape . . to find joy. And this means the world to us. It just so happens that the concert is during N's spring break, my day off and right after the IVF procedure. . .when we need distraction.
And what a wonderful distraction it is.
Thank you Erin and Neeraj!
