Heartland Cafe

After a long weekend of packing, moving and unpacking we were rewarded with the view of our baby on the ultrasound screen. Our beautiful, growing, active baby continues to flourish
in utero. As I laid on the doctor's table, I was able to watch Nathan watch the baby. He saw little punches, bones, movement. And for the first time, I saw Nathan as a father . . . interested, concerned, loving.

Then the screen turned to me as well and we were able to look at our baby's profile (I think s/he has Nathan's lips) and see those little feet that connect Nathan and the baby and gladly interupt my day with wonderful sensations.

We ended our day with warm cider and tea at Heartland Cafe. It was at Heartland in the fall of 2004, shortly after being diagnosed with infertility that we made the decision to stay in Chicago until we knew we could become pregnant. And so we've come full circle. And what a wonderful place to be.

Something changed inside of us yesterday and we'll never be the same. Our hearts are full today and we are connected in a new way to our bun.

We are eager to see those little kicking feet, Nordlund lips and punching fists on or around February 7th.

What a thrill! Congrats on seeing the bump from the inside! What a journey the two of you have taken together.

Cheers!
