New Hope

I can't believe how quickly life moves from winter to spring. Each day there are new buds on our trees, more flowers sprouting in our garden. I love driving around Evanston and looking at the bright green leaves, showing themselves to the sun for the first time. There is nothing better than sitting in our backyard grilling for the first time with the sun warming our white winter skin.

And so it is with our treatment. A cycle of new hope and life after a time of grief and loss.

I went in to the clinic this morning for the "baseline appointment". They took my blood to measure my hormone levels and did an ultrasound to see if I have any cysts leftover from the last treatment. Things look like they are ready to start. I went over the next two months with the nurse, the medications have been ordered and I start on birth control tonight.

To give you a basic timeline:
I will start on birth control today for 2 weeks
4/27 I will start on lupron to shut down my system
5/10 I will start on follistim to make my eggs grow and continue on lupron
5/15-5/20 we will do daily ultrasounds and blood tests along with the lupron and follistim

If all goes well we will do the IVF around the 20th of May give or take a few days. This is the point where our treatment was canceled last month. This month the dosages have been changed so we are hoping the results will as well.

So new hope begins again. . . my body is readying itself for treatment and our hearts are looking forward to two more weeks of rest before the shots.
