We had our friend Johanna in from Seattle all weekend. What a fun time to spend with her but always too short!
We spent a perfect Sunday afternoon in the summertime at the Lincoln Park Zoo. While I was definitely sad that there are no longer elephants at Lincoln Park and the sun bears weren't putting on a show for us with their crazy tongues, we had a great time on the carousel, looking at the flamingos and watching our favorite animals at the zoo: all the different kinds of people visiting!
I go back and forth on my opinion of the zoo. Part of me gets really sad to think about polar bears living in Chicago or the birds with the big screened in cage to fly in but at the same time I love that we get to see these animals in real life.

"They" say that watching a baby see things for the first time is like seeing it again for the first time yourself and while Sanne was probably more impressed with the blades of grass than she was with the camels, it's still fun to think about her visiting in the coming years.
As an aside, I'm ashamed to say that we are all sporting white t-shirts in all of the photos. Seems like something that would be more appropriate for Great America.

Yes, white T's, with the exception of Sanne's birthday suit she's sporting.
Cute pics...and I could discuss pros and cons of zoos all day! ;) Love you!
So good to see a picture of Johanna! I've been wondering what she's been up to these days...
