Boompa

Nathan is the son of a preacher man. Ted (also affectionally called Boompa around the grandbabies) has been a Covenant pastor for a long time. And you'd know by meeting him, that it definitely is his calling. Ted has a way about him that is kind, gentle and thoughtful. When you talk to him, you know that he is in the conversation . . . caring for you.

A few years ago we sat down after a Christmas celebration for a family meeting. Ted had been the head of a church in Portland, OR for about twenty years and then at a church in Minnesota for a little less than ten. He felt a calling to counsel pastors who need spiritual and personal guidance and made the decision, along with Jeannine to start a non-profit where he would be able to do just that. I think it's easy for us to assume that the men and women who guide us spiritually are always spiritually fed themselves but that's not always the case.

Today in the mail we received news that a website was created for his non-profit and I encourage you to check it out http://www.ashepherdscounsel.org/

I have watched Nathan's parents take such a risk, have so much faith and listen to what their hearts have been calling them to do. I don't know if I have the ability to support Nathan and his dreams the way that Jeannine has for Ted. I don't know if I would be willing to trust God enough to take a chance in my early 60's.

I am so proud of them and just thought I needed to share that tonight. So many of us don't follow the dream but they have and that's something.

That is so wonderful and amazing that Boompa is doing that. Working with pastors every day, I know how very hard the call is, and how much support they need....I wish I could get my pastors on disability (many with mental health concerns) to give Boompa a call!

Ted will forever hold a very special place in our lives and hearts because he married us!! Of course, we wish the both of them the very best that life has to offer them on their new path. Also, B, ever heard of Salem Covenent Church in New Brighton?? CeCe will be attending preschool there in the fall. We love it!

That is awesome! I've only met him once, but he seems like an incredible man! And now I have an even softer spot for him because I used to call my Grandpa "Boompa" too! :)
