After infertility, it is always such a joy to us to hear that test results are positive and baby is healthy. I went in for my regular appointment yesterday. My blood pressure was low: 100/70, I've gained 12 lbs now and the baby's heart is beating at 140 bpm.
She is an active one. She still has a few weeks, give or take, until she moves into the head down position to prepare for her birth day. So right now her home is still a swimming pool but her jabs are strong and active. I want Nathan to feel each kick and punch when I feel them but the minute he puts his hand there, she tends to get shy. The real trick is a taste of My Little Pony fruit snacks and a glass of orange juice. Poor child, she's going to become diabetic in the womb.
This month is filled with classes for Nathan and I. Tomorrow we head to the hospital for the birthing floor tour. Next Saturday is our day long birthing class, then a breast feeding class and a baby care class. These are all free and given by nurses in the hospital so we couldn't resist. I have been better about reading my books on labor and feel a deep sense of calm intermixed with a little fear here and there. But I know that I am strong and that the baby and my body know what they are doing. Not to mention that the end result will be her in our arms.
Tomorrow we will be 32 weeks along. Here's what ivillage.com says our baby is doing these days:
By now, your baby probably weighs almost 4 pounds and is almost 17 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. She has tiny toenails now, and her fingernails have grown in, too. Some babies have a head of hair already; others have only peach fuzz.
Visually, your baby may track moving objects with the eyes. When she blinks, the eye's iris responds to light and dark. The lungs and digestive track are nearly mature, although the last few weeks in-utero are still important for lung development.
