For Nathan's ears only

There are so many surprises during the 10 months of pregnancy. Some for the good, others . . . not so much. But one surprise that we recently learned of is that after 24 weeks, a person can put their ear on the mama's stomach and (if the baby is positioned right) they can hear the baby's heartbeat!

Last night, while everything was still before bed, Nathan rested his ear on my growing belly and heard the very clear heartbeat of our little girl . . . only an inch away. What an incredible gift!

Women have such an honor of carrying the baby, feeling the baby move, etc. It made me so happy to know that Nathan has something that I can't have . . . an experience just for him and our little girl. She's a little spunky though . . . punching his head as he rested it on my stomach.

I rung in the 3rd trimester last night by having dreams about my labor. Apparently my mom was pregnant and had a baby, Christine was (and is) pregnant and had her baby, all in the time that I was waiting around the hospital for our baby to come out. Then Nathan gave me a sliced fruit tray that he had made but it made my throat hurt. The doctor explained that it was because my body was weak and focusing on delivering the baby. I remember running around outside and knowing that Dr. Thorpe would not be happy about this because I was supposed to be resting in my hospital bed. Very odd and felt like I needed to share.

Happy Thursday,
B.
